Nanda Devi Mela is essentially special and glaring festival that is celebrated in various divisions of Uttarakhand where there is a recognized Nanda Devi Temple.
A Cheerful atmosphere is created near Nanda Devi Temple. It is said that the idol of Nanda Devi was set up at Malla Mehal (Almora) by the King Baj Bahadur Chand.
And after that the Commissioner trail set it up at Deep Chandeshwar temple.
It is also said that the Fair is organized and celebrated after the victory of King Baj Bahadur Chand. Now a day, the Goddess Nanda Devi is worshipped at dozens of places in Garhwal and Kumaon. Various folk dances, songs, drama and cultural and traditional activities are performed during this five days occasion.
